The west side of Los Santos had its own rhythm—sirens, shouts, and the low hum of engines cruising past cracked sidewalks. For more than thirty years, one name echoed louder than most: the 83 Hoovers Criminal Gang, known on the streets as the Rascals.
Back in the day, they were the 83 Hoover Crips, blue rags hanging heavy, one of the strongest Hoover sets in the city. But feuds with other Crip neighbourhoods cut deep, and the streets taught them a hard truth: sometimes, your worst enemy wears the same colors as you. So the Rascals did what few thought possible—they shed the Crip name, denounced it completely, and embraced the Hoover Criminal identity.
From then on, orange burned alongside blue. Houston Astros caps and jerseys became part of their uniform, a way to stand apart in a city crowded with sets. The Jefferson Motel, sitting tired and cracked on the edge of Jefferson, became more than just a landmark—it was their fortress, their proving ground.
The 83 Hoovers grew into the largest subset under the Hoover umbrella, their influence stretching block after block. They stood shoulder to shoulder with allies like the 74 Hoover Gangster Criminals, the Shotgun Crips, and the Eight Tray Gangster Crips, their bonds sealed through years of shared enemies and shared wars.
But with allies came enemies, and the Rascals had no shortage of those. Rolling 60s Crips, East Coast Crips, 84 Main Street Crips—all had spilled blood with the Hoovers. But none of those rivalries burned hotter than their war with the Swan Family Gangster Bloods. For decades, Swan red and Hoover orange clashed in alleys, parks, and street corners, a feud that carved itself into the DNA of both gangs. And hanging over it all was the never-ending hostility with the Neighbourhood Crips sets, ensuring peace was never more than a dream.
Still, the Rascals endured. Thirty years later, their name still carried weight. They weren’t just another gang on the west side—they were a legacy of survival, an organization built on loyalty, identity, and defiance. In Los Santos, where alliances shifted like sand, one thing was constant: the 83 Hoovers Criminal Gang, the Rascals, were never going away.
