GTA California - 1993 Immersion Rules
This server is strictly set in the year 1993, California. Any element that belongs to a later time period or could not realistically exist in this era is considered a serious anachronism and breaks immersion for everyone involved.
Players are expected to fully adapt their character, behavior, and knowledge to the technological, cultural, and social limitations of early 90s California.
Strictly Prohibited Elements
1. Technology & Communication
Modern technology does not exist in this setting.
You are NOT allowed to use or reference:
- Smartphones or mobile internet devices
- Messaging apps (WhatsApp, Discord IC usage, Instagram DMs, etc.)
- Social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
- GPS devices or digital navigation systems
- Internet browsing or online searches as a civilian resource
- Email as a commonly accessible tool
- “Text me your location on WhatsApp”
- “Check Google Maps”
- “I saw it online”
- “I’ll send you a link”
- Payphones
- Landline telephones
- Physical directions or meeting points
2. Weapons & Equipment
Weaponry must match the technological level of the early 1990s.
Prohibited:
- Modern tactical attachments (lasers, advanced optics, holographic sights)
- Weapons introduced after the early 90s
- Unrealistic military-grade gadgets or futuristic equipment
Glock pistols existed but were still relatively uncommon in many circles. Most law enforcement and street-level criminals relied on revolvers, basic pistols, shotguns, and standard rifles of the era.
3. Culture, Music & Media Knowledge
Your character cannot know future cultural developments.
You are NOT allowed to reference:
- Music, films, artists, or events that appear after 1993
- Future celebrities or modern cultural figures
- Tupac Shakur (post-1993 fame context awareness)
- Nirvana’s later cultural impact beyond the era
- “New movie release” references from the future
- Any spoilers of real-world events after 1993
- Michael Jackson
- Madonna
- Prince
- Miami Sound Machine
- Scarface (1983)
4. Modern Habits & Products
The following do NOT exist in this environment:
- Vapes, e-cigarettes, pods
- Energy drinks (modern formulations)
- Supplements or wellness products introduced after the era
- Any modern consumer tech-based lifestyle products
5. Language & Slang Restrictions
Characters must speak in a way consistent with early 90s California.
Prohibited modern slang includes:
- “vibe check”
- “sus”
- “cap / no cap”
- “deadass”
- “cringe”
- “slay”
- “bet”
- “period”
- Any internet-era slang (2010–2026 terminology)
6. Knowledge Boundaries
Your character cannot:
- Reference future political events
- Predict sports results or historical outcomes
- Mention future technological or cultural developments
- Use hindsight knowledge of real-world history beyond 1993
7. Enforcement Philosophy & Consequences
The purpose of these rules is full immersion in a believable 1993 California environment.
Initial mistakes will be treated as learning opportunities. Staff may provide explanations and guidance instead of immediate punishment.
However, repeated or intentional violations will result in:
- Kick from server
- Temporary ban
- Further administrative action if needed to preserve immersion quality
8.Reporting
If you observe violations of immersion rules, report them using /report. Do not engage in arguments or IC escalation.
Maintaining immersion is a shared responsibility across the entire community.
